Thoughtful Changes for Better, Sustainable Stays

A memorable stay is often made up of small sustainable details.

Fresh flowers on the table. A well-stocked kitchen, especially everything you need to make a cuppa’. Soft towels after a long walk. The reassuring feeling that everything has been thoughtfully prepared before you arrive.

For us, caring for our guests also means caring for the places they come to enjoy.

Over the past few years, we’ve been quietly making changes across our short stay spaces, choosing products that are kinder to the environment without changing the experience our guests have come to expect.

They’re not dramatic changes. Most guests probably won’t even notice them.

And that’s rather the point.

Starting with Everyday Sustainable Essentials

The first changes happened behind the scenes.

We began replacing many of our everyday cleaning products and hand wash with refillable alternatives from Miniml, a Yorkshire company making beautifully simple cleaning and personal care products with sustainability at their heart.

Their refill system allows us to reuse bottles again and again, helping us reduce unnecessary plastic while continuing to maintain the high standards of cleanliness that every guest deserves.

It’s a simple idea, thoughtfully carried out.

The Next Chapter On Our Sustainable Journey

This year, we’re taking the next step.

Across all of our short stays, we’ll gradually be introducing refillable guest products supplied by Miniml, including:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Surface cleaner

Rather than replacing dozens of small plastic bottles every year, we’ll refill attractive dispensers using larger refill containers, reducing waste without compromising quality.

It’s a quieter, more considered way of doing things.

Small Sustainable Choices, Made Carefully

Every short stay has its own character, and every guest enjoys it in their own way.

Our aim has never been to make bold environmental statements. Instead, we believe that making careful choices, consistently over time, is often the most meaningful approach.

Choosing products that are made in the UK, preferably THE NORTH of England and close to home.

Reducing single-use plastics wherever we can.

Working with suppliers whose values reflect our own.

These are small decisions on their own, but together they help us tread a little more lightly.

Looking Ahead

This is just one part of an ongoing journey.

As we continue to care for all our spaces (including our HOMEs, HQs, OUTSIDE spaces), we’ll keep looking for thoughtful ways to reduce waste, support responsible suppliers, and improve the experience for both our guests and the landscapes that surround us.

Many of these changes will happen quietly in the background.

We hope they help ensure that the places you love to visit remain just as special for the guests who visit tomorrow.
